LaserGen, Inc. is a start-up biotechnology company focused on commercializing novel technologies for genomics application to health benefits. Ideally situated near the Texas Medical Center, we have strong research collaborations with Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University. Through collaboration, technology, and license agreements, LaserGen has begun developing a proprietary platform for DNA sequencing of whole genomes that will (1) provide new capabilities, significant cost savings, and efficiency gains for the research market and (2) provide rapid, portable diagnoses of common diseases in the clinical setting. The technology platforms rest on development of novel fluorescent nucleotides for application of a cyclic reversible termination (CRT) method and development of a novel method of fluorescent detection using Pulsed Multiline Excitation (PME). The combination of the CRT and PME technologies will enable development of the high-throughput system for sequencing of whole genomes, with broad application in the research and clinical markets.
